SACRAMENTAL AND PRAYER LIFE

The Sacramental and prayer life of the Marian Community is essential for our growth as Disciples of Christ. Various opportunities are provided for one to participate more fully in the life of the church. Our Lady of Hope Chapel which was renovated in the last couple of years provides a beautiful space for small liturgies, prayer and quiet reflection.

Mass
Each month and on Holy Days the entire students body comes together for an all-school Mass. A Freshman Class Mass is held at the beginning
of the year, as well as, liturgies for sports teams and extracurricular clubs as requested. Mass is also celebrated in the mornings before school in our school Chapel. We are striving to add more liturgies throughout the week, as well. (Please see our current calendar for scheduled Masses.)

The Sacrament of Reconciliation
Each semester we encourage our students to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation during our Penance Services during Advent and Lent. Priests from the local parishes are invited to hear confessions during these times. In addition, the Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered a couple of times a week and on First Fridays. (Please see our current calendar for our schedule of confessions.)

Eucharistic Adoration
Eucharistic Adoration is offered on the First Fridays of the month throughout the school day. Students from the theology classes and students during their lunch hours have the opportunity to spend some quiet time before the Blessed Sacrament to pray and reflect. Many faculty and staff take advantage of this opportunity when possible. Benediction is celebrated as we end our day of Adoration.

Other Prayer Opportunities
Each day the Marian Community begins and ends each day with prayer over the PA. Students are scheduled to lead prayer over the PA several mornings a week. Every class throughout the building is encouraged to begin their time with prayer. Our school Chapel is available to faculty, staff and students throughout the day to spend some time in prayer. Twice a month Praise and Worship is held in the school Chapel for any interested students who wish to sing and pray together over the lunch hours. We also offer opportunities to experience the richness of prayer in our catholic heritage by offering various prayer experiences during the lunch hours both in Advent and Lent. Some of these opportunities include: the rosary, Chaplet of Divine Mercy, Lectio Divina, Prayer Services, Litanies, Stations of the Cross and the Liturgy of the Hours.

Faith Sharing Groups
Currently we are offering small faith sharing groups for any interested young women during the lunch hours. Students come together with a member of the Campus Ministry Staff to discuss a particular moral and theological virtue that we have selected that week. Our study is based on the book Courageous Virtue: A Bible Study on Moral Excellence for Women by Stacy Mitch). We hope to add small faith sharing groups for the young men in the near future.

The Parent Prayer Group meets Tuesdays at 8:15 a.m. to pray the rosary for the Marian Community. Prayer intentions may be sent in with students or e-mailed to Campus Ministry.  Prayer intentions may be eMailed to cmiller@marianhs.org .
